Spring Flowers...Peony...

The peony will be blooming soon...I'm told to leave the ants on the buds for some reason...anyone know what that reason is?

    I think they help the bloom open and with pollination....whatever they do...they sure love peonys! Ha
    I do too and I sure wish I could grown them here...sigh!

    The ants are attracted to the nectar on the bud. It is am old wives tale that the peonies need ants to bloom. The nectar must be like a fine wine..or maybe lobster and steak:)
