Shadows...

The sun is so far south that even the little seagulls have huge long shadows...so cool...

Solstice...

Happy Winter Solstice...The moon is waxing to be full for Friday and Christmas...Raining in Michigan...again, it will be the winter that wasn't...painful for restaurants and hotels who depend on the snowmobilers to come to our State...oh well...

Another sunrise...

The sunrise and sunsets around here has been very interesting and hard to ignore this autumn...even though the lake is not frozen or even cold in December...strange...

Autumn...

When the summer season is over and it's is time to get things put away so that they will survive the winter weather to come, we put picnic tables to lean against trees or boats or logs...anything so that the snow will fall some and not accumulate so much...it makes for nice photos...

Ice Patterns

Sometimes photographers go out in the darndest places to get the photo they want...

Sunset...again...

A week or so ago, we had this tremendous sunset; my phone did not take the same photo...it is said that the smoke in the atmosphere from the fires out west are giving us such nice sunsets...

What does this look like to you?  

I took it to a critique at our photo club and he said it looked like some kind of wedding veil...

Splash

We had some heavy duty winds around here this week...it make Lake Michigan very angry and she took it out on the lighthouses and beaches...

Itty bitty moon

Has anyone noticed that itty bitty moon recently...

Ripples

Since the number of residents at the lake has dwindled and the lake is very quiet and smooth in the mornings, I've been taking the rowboat out for some much needed exercise...

This is all reflections of trees, leaves, a cottage building...the ripples are from the rowboat...and there is a bit of green bloom floating...it was an interesting photo...

Fungus

This fungus was about 1 1/2' across...I've never seen one this size...plus it had the ripples and water in the center for critters...it lasted about 2 weeks in the brush pile and then faded to brown and mush...so cool...

Foggy Morning

This appears to be a black and white of the morning haze on the lake...the reflection of the bench is nice...

Halloween/Sanhaim

The Moon and Fun...

Dancing, bonfires, burning leaves...all the sounds, smells and feeling of autumn...

These guys were trying to keep warm on my outdoor night light...I kept it on all night just for them...

Blue...

I was watching the sunrise and the lily pads...this reflection shows them both...

Thru the Water and Over the Jump...

There is a Olympic qualifying event in our area each August...at least that is what I think it is...I know that many Olympic riders enter it and they are fun to watch...These photos are from that event...My daughter and some friends always like to go and watch and this year, she volunteered to judge one jump ... it was hot, but she had a good time...Hope you enjoy looking at them...

Hairless dog...

Attended a horse event this summer...while walking around following the course that the horses took in the cross country event, I came upon this dog...Hairless I believe...

Clouds...

The morning after the rare event in the skys, the clouds made their own event...there were waves and waves...

Super Moon...

Wow are there a lot of super moon/blood moon photos on the internet ... such a rare event deserves all that attention and I'm glad to add my two cents...

It is suppose to be cloudy in our area for the supermoon tonight, so I went out last night and caught the clouds coming over the moon...

Bloom...

The bloom was on the lake...it's a type of green slime that floats along the surface...I suppose it comes from the water plants that are beginning to decay and get past their prime...any way, it leaves wonderful patterns as you can see...this photo includes some reflections of trees and some lily pads among the bloom...

Which??

When you see a snake eating a toad, do save the toad and make the snake go hungry or do you let it go as the snake has probably worked really hard to catch that meal???  I decided not to play with the snake and he had his meal...

Other Stuff...

We went to the local Art Prize exhibition in Grand Rapids today...it is advertised as the nation's largest art competition...so much good art; so much weird art; so much questionable quality art...anyway we enjoyed walking and seeing...

On another note...watch out above as the walnuts are falling...

Autumn Greetings...

Good Afternoon and Happy Autumn Equinox...
Some little happy (or perhaps unhappy) toads have been cuddling on my exterior door light the last few nights so that they can stay warm...I have taken so many photos because they are so CUTE!!

One guy looks so skinny...I hope he gets some bugs in him before it gets any colder...
